Baidoa, QN - At least six people were killed and two others were wounded after Alshabab fighters attacked Saturday morning an African Union base in Awdinle town 30kms outside of Baidoa, the provincial town of Bay region.

Alshabab claimed the responsibility of the attack and published in their websites that they destroyed several artillery weapons from the AMISOM Burundian forces.

AMISOM spokesman didn't respond the calls, but sources close to AMISOM confirmed that there was no AMISOM casualty at all, but the AMISOM forces killed several Alshabab fighters.

Independent sources in Awdinle confirmed to Qalin News Online that six people were killed in the fighting and at least 5 of them were Alshabab fighters who launched the attack.

Ahmed Meyle 40, said, "Alshabab fighters took five bodies, and there was a civilian who was killed by astray bullet" He added, "I don't know what happened to AMISOM, but what I know is that Alshabab launched very heavy fighting against them and that fighting could result big casualty"

Alshabab fighters in Bay regions are still fighting to recapture the regions from AMISOM and the Somali Government forces that captured Baidoa from them February last year.
