Mogadishu, QN — A plane carrying the Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud urgently landed at Mogadishu’s Adan Adde International airport 30minutes after it took off due to what the pilots described as engine failure.
The press secretary of the state house Abdirahman Omar Osman better known as Eng. Yarisow, confirmed that the president is safe after the emergency landing and continue to his trip to South Sudan.
“Our plane made emergency landing at the airport, because the pilot informed us that one of the engines was not functioning properly and they shut down the engine” said Eng Yarisow.
“The president and the rest of the delegation are safe and we will continue our trip to South Sudan where the president will meet his counter part, the president of South Sudan and will attend the second anniversary of the South Sudan’s independence from Sudan” he added.
The president returned to the Airport’s VIP launch to wait another flight to continue his visit to Jubba, the capital city of South Sudan.
Alshabab fighters called the emergency landing “God’s attack” on the president.
Tweets published in Alshabab’s account stated that the president luckily escaped from what they called “ALLAH’s invisible soldiers”
The pilots were not reachable for comments and the presidential spokesman didn’t make more about the engine problem.
