    Somalia: Gunmen murdered a prominent peace and Human Rights activist in Galkaio

    Mogadishu, QN - Gunmen murdered an outspoken Somali peace and Human Rights Activist Abdi Farah who was the head of Puntland region's Peace and Human Rights Network and he was the deputy of Peace and Human Rights Network in Somalia.

Mogadishu, QN - Gunmen murdered an outspoken Somali peace and Human Rights Activist Abdi Farah who was the head of Puntland region's Peace and Human Rights Network and he was the deputy of Peace and Human Rights Network in Somalia.
Two men armed with pistols shot and killed Farah as he was leaving Al Towba Masjid (mosque) in Israac village in Galkaio town, and they escaped from the scene.

The movitive of the attack is not yet clear, and the authority didn't comment the killing yet, but gun men killed TV reporter Liban Abdilahi Qaran in Galkaio a week ago, and the two were killed a head of the Puntland elections.

The chairman of East and Horn of African Human Rights Defenders project-EHAHRDP Hassan Shire Sheikh Condemned the killing of Farah and called it "A sad moment" for all human rights defenders.


"I heard the shocking news of the killing of Human Rights activist Abdi Farah Dhere, he was killed by criminals, he was a colleague, he was a friend, he was a voice for the voiceless in Puntland, and he was longtime peace and human rights activist" Hassan Shire said.

"I strongly condemn the killing of the prominent peace and human rights activist and I call up on the Somalia federal government and Puntland administration to leave no stone unturned to apprehend the responsible criminals and bring them to justice"

Hassan Shire promised to continue the legacy of Farah and support the peace and Human Rights activists in Somalia.

Puntland Adminstration arrested Farah several times and accused him of undermining its security because of his outspoken voice for the democracy and Human Rights.
