    Somalia's HIPS think thank lambasted to the UN Monitoring group over allegations

    Mogadishu, QN - The Heritage Institute for Policy Studies in Somalia (HIPS) lambasted to the UN Somalia and Eritrea monitoring group's allegations that accused its director to partisan and group representation.

Mogadishu, QN - The Heritage Institute for Policy Studies in Somalia (HIPS) lambasted to the UN Somalia and Eritrea monitoring group's allegations that accused its director to partisan and group representation.
The Monitoring Group accused the president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's entourages were were also complicit in bribery during the presidential election in September 2012.

Citing its findings the Monitoring group indicate Abdi Aynte from HIPS and Fahad Yasin, a former Aljazeera Arabic reporter in Somalia as the two figures who collected millions of dollars from Doha, Qatar to fund the president's political will during the election.



The report said that both Yasin and Aynte are now senior figures at the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS), a local think thank, which the UNSEMG said that it is aligned to the federal government of Somalia FSG.

A repond from HIPS accused the UNSEMG report of contains false and damaging allegations against the HIPS and its director, Abdi Aynte.

HIPS responding to the money carrier allegations said, "The report alleges that Mr. Aynte was one of two “important carriers of cash donations from Qatar” to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during his election campaign. This is categorically untrue. During the 2012 presidential campaign, Mr. Aynte was a journalist with Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar"
The report also alleged Aynte of his affiliation of Ala Sheikh religious group, which Aynte's father, Sheikh Yusuf Ali Aynte decendes as senior leader, but HIPS said in its response that Mr. Aynte has no affiliation with "Ala Sheikh" or any other political or religious group in Somalia.

HIPS accused the UNSEMG report of contraticting its facts, while they linked Aynte to Dam Jadeed group of the president and then to Ala Sheikh of the former pressident, two Organisations decending from the Muslim Brotherhood but are devided in the political principles in Somalia.

The UNSEMG report didn't show evidences connecting Aynte to the accusations, while HIPS didn't publish any evidence shows their claims of independence from the allegations.

The UN report was released 12 July 2013 and accused dozens of Somalis in corruption, violations and terrorism.
